Engineering students protest fee hike : Nearly 6,500 students of an engineering college in Vasai boycotted classes and locked the campus gates to protest against a fee hike on Monday. The Manickpur police were called in to calm the protesters down. This is the second time in the past one week that students of Bhausaheb Vartak Engineering College have stayed away from classes. They say they will continue to disrupt teaching schedules until the fee hike is withdrawn. “We paid Rs 48,850 during our admission, and now the management is asking us to pay Rs 12,000 more. We will not accept this,” said a first-year student of mechanical engineering. The college, he claimed, had not given any explanation for increasing the fees.

Vasai villages exclusion

The Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) had moved the court challenging the Maharashtra government's decision to exclude 29 villages from the municipality on May 31, 2011.

Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) was formed in July 2009 wide a notification by the state government. Four municipal councils Virar, Nalasopara, Vasai and Navghar Manikpur and 59 villages were merged to form the civic corporation.

The Vasai Janandolan Samiti, an organisation formed to fight against the inclusion of villages in the VVMC had led massive morchas, forcing the government to withdraw 29 villages from the municipality.

After the VVMC moved the high court, a stay was put on the exclusion of villages. Vasai MLA Vivek Pandit told the court that the decision on exclusion of villages rested with the state and municipality had no right to challenge the decision.

Technically, the 29 villages are still under the VVMC. Villagers said that while their fate was hanging in balance developmental work was suffering. The VVMC has been ignoring the problems of the villages. Villagers complained that in the absence of a gram panchayat they had no where to go.

The hearing of the exclusion of 29 villages from the Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) will be heard by the Bombay High Court on August 18.

Habitat:
The olive is native to the Mediterranean region, tropical and central Asia, Chile and Peru, south Australia and various parts of Africa.

Description:Olive
The olive tree is a small, evergreen tree, rarely exceeding 8 to 15 meters in height. It has pale grey bark and numerous small and creamy colored flowers.

The fruit is small, ovoid and filled with oil. It is a green drupe when unripe, and becomes blackish-purple when fully ripe. A few varieties are green when ripe and some turn a shade of copper brown. Olive oil ranges in color and flavor from green to gold and from very mild to very strong.

Fruit, the oil of the fruit, leaves and bark.

Constituents:
Olives are a very good source of monounsaturated fats and Vitamin E.
Mannite is found in the green leaves and the unripe fruit.

The olive"s high content of monounsaturated fats and Vitamin E protects the cells from free radicals and therefore has anti-cancer and heart healthy

The vitamin E in olive helps reduce the frequency and intensity of hot flashes in menopause women.

In our present world, the means of communication and conveying thoughts and information, has developed rapidly, seeming to travel at the speed of light and sound, and reaches every angle of the world within a few seconds.
There are a great number of institutions, equipment and special devices for mass enlightenment, establishing general opinions and individual resolutions.
In addition, the means of communication and information, like television, radio, internal waves, computers, Internet,newspapers, books, magazines…have become the dominant power upon the thoughts and a means of establishing a pattern for conduct.

Therefore, the media contributes in the establishment of political thoughts, as well as, individual positions and thoughts, and it contributes immensely, especially the pictorial type, like, television, Internet,cinema, Video, and pornographic magazines, in affecting the general thought and conduct of the people.
The youths – especially at the puberty stage – are active and ready, more than other people, to copy other personalities, and are influenced by the people who appear on the screen of television or cinema.

They are influenced by other people who play a vital role in the political, social and revolutionary arena, as well as, great historical heroes. This is because a youth – whether male or female – is in the stage of building his or her personality. Therefore, he or she needs someone to copy.
Since instinct and desires, especially the sexual instinct, are at their highest peak and putting pressure on the youths, so they are looking for a solution to it, therefore, the media have contributed, immensely, in stirring and arousing the sexual instinct by means of pornographic and seductive films, pictures, stories, as well as, cultures, like the use of guerilla warfare tactics and aggression in films which contribute, a lot, in deviating the youths and teaching them criminal acts. In view of this, some governments are prohibiting the showing of pornographic and guerilla warfare films, often prohibiting the youth from attending the theaters where these films are shown.
The result of the statistics on viewing videos conducted by Dr. Alexander Aldila in Lebanon shows that: "The viewing of social and emotional films wins the first position while detective films win the second position…"(The Role of Communication and Information in a Complete Personality, page 315.)
Another report states that: The studies conducted in the U.S on 110 people in a corrections institute show that 49% of them got the desire of carrying weapons from watching the cinema and 12-21 % of them found the audacity to steal and kill police from the same source.
While the studies conducted on 252 deviated young girls, between the ages of 14-18, shows that 25% of them had sexual relationships as a result of watching pornographic films in the cinema and 41 % of them were led to glamorous ceremonies, night theaters and 54% of them cut school in order to watch films, while 17% of them left their homes as a result of the conflict between them and their family on going to the cinema.
A W.H.O report and, also, a French Judge, about the factors of deviation, say: "I don’t have any doubt that some films, especially detective films, play a great, harmful role in most of the cases."
A questionnaire and cross examination on 1344 personalities conducted in Britain on the relationship between the cinema and corruption of children under 16, found that 600 of them answered that there is a relationship between the cinema and children’s deviation.
Other studies also show that most of the stealing and robbing, which happens in the West, has an effect from the cinema.(Ali Muhammad Ja’afar, Abdath al-Munharifun, page 81)
A negative influence in teenagers is the use of cigars by celebrity movie stars, the constant exposure of sex images, the excessive images of violence and exposure to thousands of junk food ads. Another negative influence in teenagers that has grown over the last years are anorexia and obesity. There are millions of adolescents fighting obesity, but at the same time they are exposed to thousands of advertisements of junk food, while the ideas image of a successful person is told to be thin and wealthy.
At last, it can be concluded that watching emotional films, pornographic, detective films and misuse of social networking websites is corrupting people, and furthermore, as scientific studies confirm, the youth at this stage, can be influenced by all this, because he is on the verge of his growth.
we should make our kids and teen aware that war is not a form of entertainment and that there is no win or lose like in video games, in real war everyone lose.
From all these statistics, we can deduce that the work of the mass media in the formation of emotions and conduct involving instinct, as well as, copying the role of the heroes, is important.

Vasai, also called Bassein

Vasai, also called Bassein, lies about 48 kms north of Mumbai just across the Ulhas River. The fort in the old city was the headquarter of the Portuguese in the north, next in importance to Goa. The coastal land-fort of Vasai was surrounded by sea on three sides and to the landside it had a moat which was filled by sea-water. Its 4.5kms long strong stone wall had 11 bastions. The fort had two gates – the westward land-gate. There was also a small citadel in the fort. Well – equipped with water-tanks, store-houses, armoury, etc., the fort also had fields for growing grains and vegetables. All the old structures inside the wall are now in ruins.

Vasai came into prominence when the ancient harbour of Sopara (now Nalsopara village, 10kms north of Vasai) became unfit for use. However, Vasai continued to be a trading centre. A small fort-like structure was erected here in 1533 AD by Malik Tughan, the commander of Bahadur Shah, Sultan of Gujarat. In 1534 AD, the Portuguese forced Bahadur Shah to cede Vasai in perpetuity.

Here, first they constructed the citadel (Balekilla), and then in 1590AD, the present fort with its ramparts and other structures came into being. For the next about 150 years Vasai enjoyed opulence and prosperity. The Portuguese built here magnificent houses, convents, churches and an orphanage. Only the Hidalgos (Portuguese nobles) were allowed to reside within the fort walls. Vasai was the main naval base and sort of ship-building centre of the Portuguese. The end came in 1739AD, when Chimaji Appa, Peshwa Bajirav’s brother, stormed the fort and captured it with great loss of life. It was here in 1802 AD, the Peshwa Bajirav II signed the infamous “Treaty of Bassein” which virtually dissolved the Maratha Confederacy. Finally, the fort and the city of Vasai was ceded to the British in 1817 AD.

Miracle recovery of Parag Sawant , One of the Mumbai 7/11 blasts victim

One of the Mumbai 7/11 blast victims, Parag Sawant, recovered miraculously nearly after five years of coma life. He was in coma for nearly five years due to severe brain injuries and now regained his consciousness after several brain surgeries.

Parag was travelling on a Virar-bound local train July 11, 2006, returning home after work when a bomb went off. It was one in a series of seven train blasts that rocked Mumbai that day killing nearly 200 people and injuring close to a thousand. Parag suffered severe brain trauma and went into coma. He was 27 years old, his wife six months pregnant.

In 2008, he spoke a few words. And today, he has regained consciousness - something that's being seen as nothing short of a miracle.
"He speaks clearly. He also remembers events in the past, even things related to the blast," said Mr Jaiprakash.

Vasai-Virar Marathon to offer prize money for state runners

The men's and women's winners in the Rs 15-lakh prize-money inaugural Vasai-Virar Mayor's Marathon on September 18 would pocket Rs one lakh and Rs 51,000 respectively.

"In the first year we are inviting athletes from all over the state, as well as from Vasai-Virar region which has produced some top runners in the past, including Olympian Anand Menezes, to take part. We will try and expand it later," said Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation's Mayor Rajiv Patil.

The second and third place finishers in the men's 42-km race would get Rs 75,000 and 50,000 respectively, while the corresponding women's half marathon placings would offer Rs 40,000 and 30,000 respectively.

The newly formed Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) on Wednesday presented its first budget-of Rs 810 crore-with the emphasis 'Destination Vasai'. The focus is on restoring and maintaining churches, forts, lakes, and tourist and picnic spots. The VVMC (formed after the merger of four municipal councils-Virar, Nalasopara, Navghar-Manikpur and Vasai-in July 2009) has not imposed new taxes. The funds for undertaking projects will come from existing taxes, including property tax, local body tax, water tax and fire service tax. In the budget proposal, municipal commissioner Kishore Borde has made a provision of Rs 4.45 crore to restore and upgrade facilities at places of religious importance, among them the Jeevdani temple and the Agashi Jain temple in Virar, and the Shiva temple at Tungareshwar, which attract lakhs of devotees a year. The forts under consideration are the ones in Vasai and Virar. Provision has also been made for the Vasai coastal belt.

New Train on the Panvel-Diva-Vasai sector

The Central Railway plans to introduce one DMU service between Diva-Vasai Road and one MEMU service between Panvel-Vasai Road from next month. 71093 will depart Vasai Road at 09.50 hrs and reach Diva at 10.50 hrs, while on its return journey, 71094 will depart from Diva at 11.30 hrs and reach Vasai road at 12.30 hrs.

The trains will halt at Juchandra, Kaman, Kharbao, Bhiwandi Road and Kopar in both directions. The train will run with eight coaches, including six general second class and two general second-class-cum-guard’s brake van.
6918 will depart Vasai Road at 12.10 hrs and reach Panvel at 13.45 hrs, while on its return journey, 69167 will depart from Panvel at 14.30 hrs and reach Vasai road at 16.05 hrs.

This is in addition to two pairs of MEMU (between Panvel-Vasai Road) and three pairs of DMU (between Diva-Vasai Road) already running on this section.

City Zilla Parishad declares 49 schools in Thane district illegal

The Education Department of Thane Zilla Parishad has declared around 49 private schools in the district - including 21 in Vasai - illegal.

According to officials the schools did not have the requisite permission to conduct examinations.

An official from the department said majority of the schools had permission to only function till Std VII, and for further approvals they had to approach the Zilla Parishad. The schools failed to do so, which rendered them illegal.

The Christian community in Vasai has finally been granted a burial ground. The community had, for decades, been demanding a cemetery in Vasai.
Following the intervention of chief minister Prithviraj Chavan , the land for the purpose has been allotted in Vasai.
Christians in Vasai had to travel to the cemeteries at Sewri (island city ) and Oshiwara in the western suburbs for funerals. The community members had approached the minister of minority affairs, Naseem Khan, seeking action on the matter.

However, his little son Prahlad refused to accept his commands and continued to worship God.

Flustered by this news, Hirnakashyipu invoked the help of his sister Holika, who had a boon that she could walk through the fire unharmed to do away with his son. The wicked aunt agreed to the evil desires of his brother and entered the fire with her nephew Prahlad.

However, the brother and sister had forgot that Holika could only enter the fire alone or she would perish. Thus, blessed by God, the child Prahlad remained unharmed but Holika got burnt and died instantly. Holi is thus celebrated to commemorate the death of the evil aunt, after whom the festival is named, and the new life granted to Prahlad for his devotion and faith.

Bassein Fort (Around Mumbai)

Bassein Fort, now in ruins, was under the Portuguese a thriving fortified city from 1534 to 1739 when it was sacked by the Marathas. The ruins of the Portuguese Fort still stand almost hidden by brushwood and palm groves. Some of the walls and churches can still be seen.

About 10 kms to the north-west lies Nalasopara village, the capital of the Konkan region from 1500 BC to AD 1300. Many Buddhist relics were discovered here. Nalasopara is believed to have been the birthplace of the Buddha in a previous life. To the north, is the Agar of Agashi and to the south is the Agar of Bassein.

An hour by bus from Bassein station are the Vajreshwari Temple and Akoli Hot Springs. Also easily accessible is Ganeshpuri with the Sadguru Nityanand Maharaj Samadhi Mandir, the Bhimeshwar Temple and other ashrams.

During the take over of Vasai, by the Marathas it is believed the 800 Portuguese soldiers died in the battle Of Vasai lead by 22,000 Marathas. On 16th May, 1739, the Marathas hoisted their saffron flog declaring their victory over the Portuguese. As far as the 800 who died in the battle their bones were found in the tank in the fort area, cremated in Hindu style.

Dengue and dengue hemorrhagic fever are caused by any of the dengue family of viruses. Infection with one virus does not protect a person against infection with another. Dengue is spread by the bite of an Aedes mosquito. The mosquito transmits the disease by biting an infected person and then biting someone else.Dengue is diagnosed by a blood test.

The mosquitoes that transmit dengue live among humans and breed in discarded tires, flower pots, old oil drums, and water storage containers close to human dwellings. Unlike the mosquitoes that cause malaria, dengue mosquitoes bite during the day.

Dengue fever usually starts suddenly with a high fever, rash, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, and muscle and joint pain. The severity of the joint pain has given dengue the name "breakbone fever." Nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite are common. A rash usually appears 3 to 4 days after the start of the fever. The illness can last up to 10 days, but complete recovery can take as long as a month. Older children and adults are usually sicker than young children.

The time between the bite of a mosquito carrying dengue virus and the start of symptoms averages 4 to 6 days, with a range of 3 to 14 days. An infected person cannot spread the infection to other persons but can be a source of dengue virus for mosquitoes for about 6 days.

There is no specific treatment for dengue. Persons with dengue fever should rest and drink plenty of fluids. They should be kept away from mosquitoes for the protection of others. Dengue hemorrhagic fever is treated by replacing lost fluids. Some patients need transfusions to control bleeding.

Dengue mosquitoes bite during the daytime( Specially from early morning to Noon). Protect yourself from the bite. Use mosquito coils and electric vapour mats during the daytime to prevent Dengue.

The Western Railway (WR) administration recently asked motormen to reduce the speed of trains. But the move has compounded the problems of commuters. More than 40 trains have been cancelled in the past three days, leaving commuters with no option but to travel in overcrowded trains. The order has also delayed services with most trains running late by about 15 minutes.

Normally, trains are run at an average speed of 45 kmph, and at times they even touch 60 kmph in case the train is running on the fast line. However, the circular by the administration asks the motormen to curtail their speed to less than 35 kmph when the signals turn yellow and while entering any platform.

The Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation’s (MRVC) has proposed that new suburban locals be started that would connect the two ends and via Vasai, Bhiwandi, Diva. The 74 km route from Virar to Panvel has 11 stops currently and takes a little over two hours to complete its journey.

The cost for laying both lines is likely to be around Rs 3,000 crore, while the rail works component of MUTP III is likely to cost Rs 30,000 crore. The first and second phases of the project have been partly funded by the World Bank.

Unidentified persons have stabbed to death a 74-year-old Catholic priest Peter Bombacha ,in Vasai diocese in western India. Some Catholics found the body of Father Peter Bombaci in a pool of blood Thursday morning at his residence, a short distance from the diocesan headquarters.

“I found the body of Father Peter lying in a pool of blood this morning,” Archbishop Machado of Vasai told Vatican news service Fides, explaining how he had been alerted by some lay people who worked with the priest.

“He had a rope around his neck and scissors stuck in his throat. It was a gruesome scene. The police appeared immediately on the scene and took the body for postmortem investigations. They are investigating the matter,” Archbishop Machado said.

He said the Catholic community is in “a state of shock.” The priest was operating a de-addiction center for alcoholics, which he founded.

The Bombay Stock Exchange on Thursday said it has reduced the deposit amount for new members by 90 per cent to Rs 10 lakh with immediate effect.

The BSE has decided to reduce the deposit amount for new deposit-based membership from the existing Rs 100 lakh to Rs 10 lakh with immediate effect.

The reduction would be effective across equity products offered by the exchange, which include cash, derivatives and debt.

As per Sebi norms, no single entity can hold over 5 per cent in an exchange barring some like stock exchanges and banking organizations that can hold up to 15 per cent stake.

Local MLA Vivek Pandit, who was on a hunger strike at Vasai in neighbouring Thane district for the last four days to demand exclusion of 53 villages from Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation ,was shifted to the Thane Civil Hospital after his condition worsened.

Chaos reigned yet again in Vasai as protesters turned violent stoning public transport busses and lighting rubber tyres on fire. The police had to resort to lathi charge to control the crowd. Vivek Pandit the local MLA was on an indefinite hunger strike from March 2nd to protest against the inclusion of 53 villages in the Virar-Vasai Municipal Corporation (VVMC)

Speaking in Kolhapur, Chavan said he would convene an all-party meeting within 15 days to sort out the issue of delinking the 53 villages from the Virar-Vasai Municipal Corporation (VVMC).

The agitation crowned the indefinite hunger strike launched by Vasai legislator Vivek Pandit, whose condition became alarming by Friday morning. Pandit called off his fast after the chief minister's assurance.

The agitation has since been called off and normalcy has returned to Vasai.

Virar: Three people were electrocuted in the district late tonight while they were watching the lighting up of fire for the Holi festival.
All deceased were residents of Virar but their identities were yet to be established, police said.
According to Virar police, electric poles were erected to support the fire at the 'mandvi' and live wires fell on the victims who were leaning on the poles. They were electrocuted instantly.
Senior officials of the police station rushed to the site and further investigations were in progress.

Tax slabs revised
Giving a relief to the middle class Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Feb 26 revised the tax slabs for the next financial year.
The finance minister proposed the following slabs for individual tax payers:
There will be no tax for income upto Rs 1.6 lakh. This was the same earlier.
For income between 1.6 lakh - 5 lakh, the tax liability will be 10%. The older slab was 1.6 - 3 lakh.
For income between 5 lakh - 8 lakh, the tax liability will be 20%. Earlier 20% tax was deducted on Rs 3-5 lakh income.
Individuals with income of above Rs 8 lakh will have tax liability of 30%. Earlier 30% was deducted on income of Rs 5 lakh and above.
The government would allow a deduction of up to Rs 20,000 for investments in long-term infrastructure bonds. The deduction would be in addition to Rs 100,000 allowed under Section 80C of India's Income Tax Act.

The proposal to reduce the tax slab will benefit 60 percent of all tax payers," he said and added that he wished to hike the minimum alternate tax (MAT) to 18 percent of book profits from the present 15 percent.
Consumers will have to pay more for petrol, diesel, cars, TVs, cigarettes, tobacco, air-conditioner, gold and silver as the government on Friday announced hike in excise duty as part of a partial roll back of stimulus measures announced for reviving the economy.

On the other hand, mobile accessories, medical equipment energy efficient CFL lamps, set top boxes, compact disc, toys and books will be cheaper on account of some tax concessions offered on these items by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee in the Union Budget for 2010-11. Every year in the winter season from November to march you can see so many seasonal birds at sewri mudflat, Naigaon, vasai khadi. Sewri Bay is a short drive along the coast from downtown Mumbai and is opposite Elephanta Island. In winter thousands of pink Flamingos flock to the protection of the food rich mudflats and have been doing so since the early 90's.

The Lesser Flamingo (Phoenicopterus minor) is a species in the flamingo family of birds which occurs in Africa (principally in the Great Rift Valley), across to northwest India. It is the smallest and most numerous flamingo, probably numbering up to a million individual birds.Like all flamingos it lays a single chalky white egg on a mud mound. Most of the plumage is pinkish white.

Since instinct and desires, especially the sexual instinct, are at their highest peak and putting pressure on the youths, so they are looking for a solution to it, therefore, the media have contributed, immensely, in stirring and arousing the sexual instinct by means of pornographic and seductive films, pictures, stories, as well as, cultures, like the use of guerilla warfare tactics and aggression in films which contribute, a lot, in deviating the youths and teaching them criminal acts. In view of this, some governments are prohibiting the showing of pornographic and guerilla warfare films, often prohibiting the youth from attending the theaters where these films are shown.

The result of the statistics on viewing videos conducted by Dr. Alexander Aldila in Lebanon shows that: "The viewing of social and emotional films wins the first position while detective films win the second position..."(The Role of Communication and Information in a Complete Personality, page 315.)
Another report states that: The studies conducted in the U.S on 110 people in a corrections institute show that 49% of them got the desire of carrying weapons from watching the cinema and 12-21 % of them found the audacity to steal and kill police from the same source.

While the studies conducted on 252 deviated young girls, between the ages of 14-18, shows that 25% of them had sexual relationships as a result of watching pornographic films in the cinema and 41 % of them were led to glamorous ceremonies, night theaters and 54% of them cut school in order to watch films, while 17% of them left their homes as a result of the conflict between them and their family on going to the cinema.
A W.H.O report and, also, a French Judge, about the factors of deviation, say: "I don't have any doubt that some films, especially detective films, play a great, harmful role in most of the cases."
A questionnaire and cross examination on 1344 personalities conducted in Britain on the relationship between the cinema and corruption of children under 16, found that 600 of them answered that there is a relationship between the cinema and children's deviation.

Other studies also show that most of the stealing and robbing, which happens in the West, has an effect from the cinema.(Ali Muhammad Ja'afar, Abdath al-Munharifun, page 81)
At last, it can be concluded that watching emotional films, pornographic and detective films is corrupting people, and furthermore, as scientific studies confirm, the youth at this stage, can be influenced by all this, because he is on the verge of his growth.

From all these statistics, we can deduce that the work of the mass media in the formation of emotions and conduct involving instinct, as well as, copying the role of the heroes, is important.

The local train services on Mumbai Central line halted when a water pipeline collapsed on top of a running train near Thane-Mulund route. At least two persons including the local train driver were killed and eleven others injured when a water pipeline along with part of a bridge fell on a moving train between Mulund and Thane station disrupting train services on the Central Line in Mumbai.

Psycho dad of Vasai locked up 3 daughters for years

A 60-year-old Vasai man Francis Gomes, was arrested on Wednesday on charges of keeping his wife Thresa and three daughters confined at home for 7 years.. Read a terror horror story of Vasai.

Theresa told the cops that he would leave home every day in the morning after ensuring that the windows were sealed and power was switched off. He would then lock the door from outside to give the impression that the family was away. She told the police that they would go without food for days and would look for help whenever they met someone.

Francis,the psyco dad,told several people that a few years ago Barbara had returned home one day after being physically abused. He had then beaten her up so badly that it damaged her neck.

A court in Mumbai on Thursday sent Francis Gomes, the man who allegedly kept his wife and daughters under forced confinement for seven years, to 15 days in judicial custody.

Child abuse can destroy a life. The person may go away but the scars are left behind forever. It is impossible to erase them from the victim’s memory. It often becomes a lifelong saga.

Child Abuse in a rampant problem glaring in our faces. It is our children we happen to be talking about and we need to protect them. We need to make sure that the laws in our country are implemented and we mustn’t let the criminal walk away as this will only encourage him.

Listen to your child and believe him.
Never scold your child if he approaches you with a problem
Tell him to raise his voice if he feels uncomfortable around a stranger/relative/person
Never leave your children with neighbors, friends, relatives, servants, and drivers
Spend quality time with your children
Remember that your child is your responsibility and any particular action can destroy or build the faith
Never make the child feel guilty for something he/she is not responsible for
If your child behaves strangely due to some reason discuss it with him
If your child suddenly stops socializing, talk to him
If he/she refuses to go near a specific person, do not force him

Recognize the Warning Signs:The behavior of children may signal abuse or neglect long before any change in physical appearance. Some of the signs may include:

Nervousness around adults
Aggression toward adults or other children
Inability to stay awake or to concentrate for extended periods -Sudden, dramatic changes in personality or activities.
Unnatural interest in sex.
Frequent or unexplained bruises or injuries
Low self-esteem
Poor hygiene

Sex assault Physical and emotional abuse is very common. A SURVEY sponsored by Indian Ministry of Women and Child Development was carried out by a NGO "Prayas" in association with Unicef and save the children clearly depicted that more than 53 per cent of children in India were sexually abused and the majority of victims didn’t dare to report the abuse.

5-12 years children are most at risk.
two out of every three children were physically abused.
53.22% of children faced one or another form of sex abuse.
Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar and Assam reported the highest percentage of sex abuse.
50% abuses are persons known to child.

Sex Abuse: a very large number of people feel that child abuse is a western problem and child sexual abuse does not happen in India. Which is totally wrong.53.22% of children in India faced one or another form of sex abuse and 50% abuses are persons known to child.

Forms of sex abuses:

Assault,Including Rape and sodomy.
Touching or fondling the child.
Forcing child to exhibit his/her private parts.
Taking photo of child in nude.
forcible Kissing.
Exhibiting before the child.
Exposing child to pornographic materials.
